Ya'll got any idea......
How CHEAP Strike Anywhere wood matches are ???
1.19 FRNs for a box of 250. Man....that's a LOT of fires lit for a buck and change. Box of these puppies would last a year if you bank the fire a few times and didn't have to light it every day. When I think of the work involved to light a fire with flint and steel, or a firebow, etc......it's amazing you can hold the power of FIRE in your fingers for less than a 1/2 cent. They could be almost priceless one day. http://www.digistash.com/data/026a39...3_p114620.jpeg I love rainy prep days. |
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
,,wad's dat/ gas in a milk jug, under the table?
|
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
Nah...yellow wood glue....I get it by the gallon.
|
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
Are those the matches they're getting ready to ban?
|
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
I dunno about banning, but the Strike Anywhere are pretty hard to find now locally.....only place that carries them is True Value Hardware store.
|
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
Those matches were used in a multi-homicide in New York. Hillary has been clamoring to have owners and users register their matches and limit the box to a capacity of 10 or less.

Cut off the stuff you strike the matches with (do not cut it into pieces, keep it as a strip) Stick both the matches and the striker into the golf or ping pong ball hole. Put hot glue or duckt tape over the hole in the ball (make sure that no air can escape, or else this won't work) Go outside (not grass) and start throwing the ball hard against the ground. It may not work the first few try's but if you keep chuckin it, it will explode. This is probably the easiest explosive to make, and these materials will be around your house, you probably won't have to go out and buy anything http://www.totse.com/en/bad_ideas/ka...bal169081.html Throw the ball away from your body, because it could explode and really **** you up. |
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
Wow, that golf ball bomb would be worth making...if I was 12! Wonder how those would work against the government forces that are coming to confiscate my guns.

Re: Ya'll got any idea......
Hey now those sticks could put an eye out!!!

Re: Ya'll got any idea......
I had no idea matches were getting hard to find. That is nuts, but good to know. Another thing to stock up on. We use them so rarely that a box lasts years, so I had not looked in years.
If they are considered dangerous that is as silly as airports collecting nail clippers. Sheesh! I can see us trimming our nails with our teeth and having to get the fire going with a magnifying glass. Nutty. |
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
Hey Andy!
The strike anywhere matches are getting hard to find around here. I bought a pile a couple of years ago and haven't seen any lately. About them going boom, we were burning some country when I was in HS, me, my dad, and two other guys. We'd just stuff our pockets with boxes of matches and ride horseback striking and throwing them. Anyway, we had a pretty good fire going when we left, and my dad started telling us he thought he saw an EPA car waiting for us @ the gate. One guy got scared and chunked a grocery sack FULL of matches out the window. The trailer hit it and it set them off. It made a heck of a noise and shot flames up about 6 or 8 feet. When we got done laughing, Daddy gave us the obligatory chewing about how that was 20 bucks worth of matches, money doesn't grow on trees, etc, etc. |
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
You ever notice how it takes just one match to start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to light a campfire.
|
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
how about a lighter? I know I get 250+ lights out of each one, and they can be found for $0.50

QWAK,Ever heard of a ZIPPO? LOL I am still using the one I got in Nam in 71 it has been back to the factory for FREE repair about 6 times and I refill the cans of lighter fluid from a gallon can of NAPTHA! BTW: when the cheep Bic etc. lighters are out of gas I take them apart and the flints are usable in my ZIPPO and last longer than ZIPPO flints for FREE!

By being creative one can have much more with out having to sell them selves in to DEBT SLAVERY! It takes changing ones mind and relating diferently but over time the effect is cumulitive and some what amasing. Most of my old friends are up to their eye balls in DEBT and have always had a lot more income than me but I have ZERO DEBT and a conciderable amount of GOLD and SILVER! They think I am CRAZY but I know the oposit is true and in the future they will be homless or in WORK CAMPS and I will be solking in my home made, wood fired, hot tub spa saying "I tried to tell you but YOU would not listen to a CRAZY DUCK!" the DUCK |
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
When times get really tough you can add some lillies and Poy to your hot tub and make it both pretty AND productive.
TS ...Or would that kind of heat make the world's largest fish stew? |
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
We usedf to stuff match heads in an empty co2 cartridge(air gun type) and put a fuse in it...That thing would travel...lucily none of us were hurt...That was back in the 50s.
Also got two bolts and a nut...screwed one bolt on partways, put a few match heads in it & pscrwe the other bolt on & throw it...Once in awhile we would screw the bolt on too tight & the thing would go off in our hands...No damage, just noise. |
Re: Ya'll got any idea......
Almost forgot this one:Barely wet them in our mouths & strike them on the front teeth & flip them....pretended they were enemy airplanes we shot down as we watched the smoke trail behind them.
Once in awhile the very end would break off & fall behind the teeth...What a sensation! |

I am concidering runing a flex pipe to it and instaling some sprinkeler heads I bought at Maxwell St. in Chicago for $2.00 each about 25 years ago.:proud: Should I have a fire the local Volenteer Fire Dept is about 8+ miles away and they have NEVER saved a house yet as far as I know, mostly they just show up and water down the ashes then send you a bill for services! When you change your life, you change HOW you think and your priorities change too. If you realy want to BE and live INDEPENDENTLY then it is not somthing you can or should expect to do over night or AFTER things get "REALY BAD" ---- they are already REALY BAD and most people have adapted to concidering them NORMAL which they are NOT! The INCIDIOUSNESS of gradgual change (like what has happened to the dollar since 71) is that it goes unnoticed and seems like it has always been THAT way. It is only when the CARASOL stops or YOU get off, that you realy percieve how much and how fast things are changing! the DUCK |
